Celebrating Fall

Reader, my name is Alexis and I am obsessed with all things fall.

The stirring hues of red, orange, and yellow, the cozy outfits, the pumpkin spice

eVeRyThInG…What’s not to love?

I feel like fall is Mother Nature’s reminder of how beautiful the process of change can be. The

leaves on the trees are at the end of their lives, but this isn’t a sad thing. In fact, the Earth

makes sure to go out with a bang, flaunting a look more fabulous and vibrant than ever before settling into a snowy white robe for winter and eventually unveiling its new colors the next spring (would Miranda Priestly approve of this fashion metaphor for season changes? I feel like yes)!

If Mother Nature can make change look THIS GOOD, why can’t we? Here are some of my

favorite ways to celebrate one of the coziest and beautiful seasons of the year!

Pull Out Your Favorite Sweater

That sweater that makes you feel like you’re sipping a delicious hot drink somewhere in

Europe? The one that makes you simultaneously comfy AND chic at the same time?

Yeah. That one.

Pull it out and pull it on to begin your fall festivities! They say you should “dress for the

occasion”, and nothing says, “fall is here” more than a sweater that’s perfumed with pumpkin spice lattes, s’mores and bonfires, and warm hugs from loved ones.

Change Up Your Scenery

Have you ever realized just how much your surroundings can affect your mood? Trust me- it’s a game changer. There’s actually a ton of fascinating science that backs this. Your surroundings can not only make you happier and more successful, but they can also boost your overall mental and physical health! #winwinwin

Don’t feel pressure to completely transform your entire living space like you might see some on social media do (or do completely transform your space! You do you, friend). Even the simple things can make a huge difference. Here are some of my suggestions:

  • Have a favorite fall scent? Go splurge on the *perfect* candle and light that sucker as soon as you get home! A scent is an easy, economical way to bring the entire spirit of the season to your living space. Light the candle and get ready for the allll the #fallvibes.

  • Never underestimate the power of pumpkins! Why do we love those little guys so much?? I’ll tell you: science! Orange is an invigorating and vibrant color that inspires enthusiasm, warmth, and energy. Place a few pumpkins in strategic places to boost your productivity and happiness, like your front door, on your desk (WFH life, amiright?), even on your kitchen table!

  • Add some décor around the house to really invite the new outdoor season to the indoors! If you’re looking for some décor that is PERFECT for fall and won’t break the bank, check out the Life is a Party signs here. Order one to easily polish up a room with some autumnal looks. Endless compliments and questions on where you found such a cute decoration? Check!

‘Tis the Season for Baking

Before I’m even done typing the word “baking”, I’m already craving all of the iconic fall kitchen flavors… cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate, harvest veggies (pumpkins, duh!), and more! There is an endless amount of yummy fall recipes that you can find online, but if you’re the kinda person to appreciate a fine box mix with easy-to-follow instructions, I gotchu. Trader Joe’s has an excellent pumpkin waffle/pancake batter mix that is my go-to for fall breakfasts and brunches!

It’s easy to make and is perfectly on-theme. Mix now, thank me later.

Take Some Time to Reflect

Lastly, I love to celebrate fall by taking the time to reflect on another year. Most people might do this at New Year’s, but the autumn season reminds me of new beginnings. It might be because the American school year begins at this time of year, or maybe it’s because it’s the season that I get to bust out the best part of my wardrobe and basically become a new human.

But I really think that there’s a reason some of the most beautiful poetry written has been

inspired by reflective walks out in nature. The Earth is giving its final colorful performance of

the year. The rich, dark brown earth below and warm, bright leaves above are basically inviting you to have a beautiful moment to think on all that has been and all that will be. As Robert Frost said, “nothing gold can stay”! Celebrate this season by taking a moment to be still against a backdrop of reds, orange, and yellows. I promise, it’s worth it.(:

I’d love to know if you try any of these ideas to celebrate fall! Tag me and Life is a Party in your Instagram stories so that we can follow along and celebrate with you!

Happy fall, y’all!
