DIY Avocado Toast Bar for your Next Party

We’ve all seen avocado toast somewhere by now, whether that be at a restaurant, your own house, or on your Pinterest page. It started out as a must-have food picture to post on your instagram. But, despite the social media craze that surrounds avocado toast, it’s actually SO good and SO easy, making it the perfect food choice for your next party!

It comes together so quickly, and with a few fun toppings your guests will love making their own creation (and taking a picture of it). Here’s how we put together our easy avocado toast bar that you can do at home!

First things first, pick the base. You can choose to give your guests options, like, regular bread (we used Texas-style toast because it is thicker), wheat bread, pita bread, or even tortillas! It’s also easy to purchase gluten free bread so our GF friends can participate as well.

For the avocados, we went with smashed and sliced. Smashed is great to accommodate other ingredients on top of it, but sliced is perfect for those who just want avocado. We love having options, and this is an easy one to offer. One reason why we love avocados so much is because they are such a blank canvas, but don’t forget to season them!

If you really want to elevate your toast, have bacon and eggs available! It makes it feel like a more complete meal and adds great flavor. Depending on how many people you are feeding, it might be a good idea to offer the eggs made-to-order. This is super doable because they cook so quickly and then you don’t have to worry about them getting cold. Scrambled, fried, over easy, or poached! Once you taste it, you’ll know why you needed it.

Let’s talk about toppings. This is the most fun part and we ALWAYS encourage you to be creative. Some of our favorites are:

  • Diced Tomatoes

  • Mozzarella Cheese

  • Feta Cheese

  • Onion

  • Balsamic Glaze

  • Sesame Seeds

  • Everything but the Bagel Seasoning (a Trader Joes Favs)

  • Hot Sauce

  • Sprouts

  • Cream Cheese

  • Arugula

When you are arranging the spread, always go in order of how people will assemble it. Start with the plates first, then the toast, and then the avocados. Next we added the bigger toppings, like the bacon and eggs, and then had the smaller toppings like cheeses and diced tomatoes. We ended with the toppings like the seasonings and sauces that will bring the whole toast together. We also listed all the toppings on a chalkboard so our guests knew what everything was and we didn’t have to do individual labels.

Avocado Toast is a total crowd pleaser, and it’s a fun, interactive food choice! Party guests feel extra great about themselves when they get to be involved without putting in too much work. It’s great for breakfast and brunch, and we would even support you using it for lunch and dinner. You honestly can’t go wrong! Try it out and send us pictures! Or just post them on instagram...

Happy toasting!
