Popcorn is one of my all time favorite snacks. It is salty and hits the spot every time! If you are having a party and are stumped about what to serve as the snack, you can't go wrong with a popcorn bar! Here is how to do it:
The most important part is definitely the popcorn itself. There are lots of options on how to get your perfect popcorn. The most cost effective way is to buy packages of popcorn at the store and to pop them in your microwave and display it in a cute bowl or in popcorn tubs. Another easy option you can do is buy it already popped at the store in a big bag (they sell it at most stores).
If you want a popcorn machine for your popcorn bar, reach out to us! We rent ours out and will show you how to use it and everything. You'll be a pro by the end of the night.
Once you have the popcorn figured out, you'll need something to put it in. You can sometimes find reusable tubs at thrift stores for really cheap or you can get them at a party store. They also have paper ones if you don't plan on doing popcorn bars over and over.
Something that your guests will love to help them customize their popcorn are different flavor seasonings. They have lots of options online! We bought these ones off of Amazon and put them into these jars to make them look more aesthetically pleasing. We got these tiny jars with handles and shaker lids at the dollar store. Then, we designed stickers on Avery sticker paper and stuck them onto the jars. Adding seasoning is an easy and cheap way to elevate your popcorn bar!
The next thing you need are some toppings for people to sprinkle into their popcorn! Things like M&Ms and Reeses Pieces do well because they won't get all melted in the hot popcorn, but regular chocolate chips also work. You can also add other things like crushed up pretzels and peanuts.
The last thing you need for a perfect popcorn bar is a few decorations! We made a cute banner that said "It's poppin'", which we thought was very appropriate. We also made a red and white pom garland to tie everything together. Popcorn garlands, like they used to do in the olden days, would also be a super cute addition!
I hope that this helps you have the perfect popcorn bar at your next party. It pretty much works with every theme, so have fun!
