Easy Super Bowl Party Food

It’s almost game day and you know what that means… you are about to host some friends over to watch the biggest sporting event of the year THE SUPER BOWL.

Whether this is your first time hosting a Super Bowl party or if you are a veteran, it’s bound to be a lot of work. But that’s where we come in! Here are a bunch of easy AND yummy ideas of what food you should serve at this years Super Bowl party!

Appetizer: Chips and Queso

This one is made in a crock pot, so it really is easy and basically makes itself. What you’ll need:

1 block of Velveeta cheese

1 cans of Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies

Cut the Velveeta into one inch cubes, throw it all in the crock pot with the can of diced tomatoes and green chilies (don't drain it, you want the liquid) and you should be good to go. You can use yellow or white Velveeta cheese! I personally think that the white tastes better… but the yellow was better for these pictures sooooo do with that info what you will.

You can also have salsa and guac on the side as other options if you want to be extra fancy!

Entree: Chili Bar!!!

Everyone loves chili on game days, so the Super Bowl should be no different. For this you’ll need:

1/4 cup cooking oil

2 lbs ground beef

2 cups kidney beans

1 chopped green pepper

2 cloves of garlic (minced)

1 lb can of tomatoes

8 oz can of tomatoe sauce

1 1/2 tsp salt

2-4 tsp chili powder

1 crushed bay leaf

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper

Dash of paprika

Dash of cayenne

Cook beans with salt until tender. Drain and reserve the liquid. Saute onion, green pepper, and garlic in oil for 10 minutes. Add beef and brown it. Add beans, tomato sauce and, seasoning. Simmer, covered for 1 1/2 hours. Add reserved bean liquid if mixture becomes dry.

Sour cream OR greek yogurt (my best kept secret is that my family always used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream because it’s healthier!!)

Fritos- these are a must in any chili bar

Sides: Cornbread

Cornbread is one of my favorite things and it goes really well with chili! If you make it from a box I recommend this Marie Calendars mix and if you want to make it from scratch use this recipe.

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup yellow cornmeal

2/3 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon salt

3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 egg

1 cup milk

1/3 cup vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and lightly grease a 9 inch round cake pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir in egg, milk and vegetable oil until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Dessert: Chocolate dipped strawberries and pretzels

These are SO easy and SO tasty. Just grab some meltable chocolate from your grocery store, get some strawberries and some big pretzel rods and get dipping!

You’ll start by slowly melting the chocolate in the microwave (every microwave is different so be careful on timing) until it’s melted and dip all of the strawberries and chocolate to your liking.

Then take a small tube of white icing and pipe on the stitching of a football onto it! This gives it the perfect Super Bowl flare that it needs.

Other Snacks: Team popcorn

Pop a bunch of popcorn for your guests and get M & Ms the colors of the two teams playing

in the super bowl. Have it be a “make your own” popcorn station and then they can customize their bag based on the team they are cheering for!

*make sure to get cute popcorn bags or boxes to make people feel like their in a movie theatre watching the game!

Beverages: Beer (obvi)

Beer, beer and more beer is the answer to this question. If people aren’t big beer people then… too bad. They will be for today!

I hope this helps your Super Bowl party run smoothly so that you can sit back, put your feet up and enjoy the game! Who will you be cheering for on Sunday??

Go team!
