Favorite Party Items to Buy From The Dollar Store

Kim and I are regulars at the Dollar Store, and you can probably find something from there at every single party we throw or decorate. We love it for the good deals (obviously), but it also has so many items that are amazing quality for how inexpensive it is!

We tend to get a little carried away (for obvious reasons) and buy a lot of cute things, but there are always the staple Dollar Store items that we go for when we are decorating. We’ve tested them out, and are here to recommend. So, without further ado, here are our favorite party items to buy from The Dollar Store!

We have been buying our balloons at the Dollar Store since the beginning. We have compared the quality to balloons to other stores, and you just can’t beat it for the price! The only downside is the color selection isn’t as large as other party stores, but it is perfect for the basic colors. They also usually have packs of different colors that fit in the current season, and we’ve also found some great confetti balloons as well. If we are able to buy all of our needed balloons from the Dollar Store, we can make a balloon arch or garland for only $10-$15 depending on the size. They also have fun helium filled balloons for birthdays, holidays, etc., usually at the front of the store.

A classic party decoration in every color! If you are looking for an inexpensive decoration to bring a party to life, streamers are your friend. We use them for everything, especially a photo backdrop! The best part is they usually come in packs of two from the Dollar Store.

Favors are a great addition to any party, but we don’t want them to break the bank. This can be hard, especially if your guest list is on the larger side. This is why The Dollar Store is our go-to place for all of our party favor needs. You can find something for people of all ages, and they have so many options to fit with many (and I do mean many) different themes. You could easily get one single great favor that all the guests will love, or spend $2-$3 each and really knock their socks off.

Treat, Gift, and Favor Bags

Okay, if you remember anything from this post, I want it to be this. Stop spending so much money on gift bags! I am always shocked at home much one bag costs at other stores, when you could get one that looks just as nice at The Dollar Store. They even usually have bags in packs, so you are getting more than one for $1.00. Fill them with treats, a present, or the favors you just bought for your kids birthday party. I also very much appreciate the variety of colors they offer for the plain bags.

Fake Flowers

We know that fake flowers are not everyone’s cup of tea, but sometimes they are perfect for a DIY craft so that you can reuse it. When that time comes, get them from The Dollar Store! They are surprisingly great quality for only being one dollar, and they always have the best ones for Spring and Summer.

Seasonal Items

They put the season items at the front of the store for a reason. It is SO hard to resist and SO cute. Right now they have all the summer stuff out, and it does not disappoint. You can find Kim and I browsing this aisle for every holiday, season change, and life event that we need to decorate for. You can often find the perfect finishing touch that you didn’t even know you needed.

Disposable Dishes/Serving Trays

Last, but certainly not least, the disposable dishes. First, let me start by saying we are big advocates of reusing and avoiding disposable, but, depending on the party it just makes more sense. They usually have options in clear, and silver, as well as colors for the plates, napkins, cups, and cutlery. We also love the serving dishes when we are feeding a crowd but still want the presentation to look amazing.

Well, there you have it folks. Seven amazing things you need (and now want) to buy from the dollar store. Let’s be honest though, there are tons of other things you should buy too. But, this are the must-haves for any party you are throwing on a budget.

Happy Shopping!
