The news that schools will be closed the rest of the year has us thinking a lot about all the graduating seniors out there! Graduating, whether that be high school or college, is a HUGE accomplishment and it deserves to be celebrated to the fullest extent. Yes, the celebrations will look different and are probably not what the graduates are expecting. But, it should still be fun!
Here are some fun ideas of how to throw a graduation celebration at home:
Group Zoom or Facetime with close family or friends. Get all of your favorite people together and have a virtual celebration! They want to party just as much as you do, and it will make the graduate feel special to have other people involved.
Make a photo display with all of their favorite memories from school. A big part of going to school is making memories with friends. Gather all of the pictures from your most prized memories and put them together in a photo display. They can be hung on a frame, modge podged on 2020 letters, or collaged into your school’s logo. The possibilities are endless, so have fun with it!
Make them a (fake) diploma. This is really where the saying “it’s the thought that counts” comes into play. Nothing is going to feel the same as holding an actual diploma in your hands, but this will get a smile out of them until they can!
Set up a ceremony in your backyard. When we think of graduation, the first thing that comes to mind is walking across the stage, grabbing your diploma, and smiling from ear to ear for the camera guy. NEWS FLASH! You can still make that happen. Bring the kitchen chairs outside and use the diploma you just made. Don't forget to take a picture!
Put a fun sign in the front yard. A lot of the local schools in our area are already doing this for the graduates and we think it’s so fun! If you don’t already have one, they’re pretty inexpensive to have made, or you could make one yourself! It’s a special little shoutout that they all need right now. (We also decorate yards for grads- so hit us up if you are in Salt Lake City and need some help!)
Have their favorite dinner. Let’s be honest, we all knew you this was probably going to happen if graduations were taking place during normal times. There is no reason why it still can’t! Whether you get take out or cook at home, this is an easy way to celebrate your grad.
Decorate. DUH! This one is obvious and doesn’t really require much of an explanation. Get crafty, get creative, and get GOING!
To all the 2020 graduations all over the world, this one's for you! We have made it our mission to honor you this month, and we hope that you feel nothing but love. You are all so special and deserve the best celebrations. Class of 2020… you MADE IT!
