Where to Buy Cute, Inexpensive Bridesmaids Dresses

I don’t know about you all, but I actually love being a bridesmaid. It is a way for me to celebrate people I love and help them make their wedding day a special one. When you accept an invitation to be a bridesmaid, you do take on some responsibility, which can sometimes include buying a dress. And by sometimes, I mean quite often. It’s understandable for the bride-to-be to request that you provide your own dress. After all, they are already spending a fortune on everything else.

But, never fear!I am here to help. I have found myself looking for a bridesmaid dress twice in the past few months, and I’ve learned a few things. Here are 8 of my favorite online (and in-store) resources for bridesmaid dresses that are definitely worth looking into.

1. Lulus

So, I'm starting out strong and beginning with my favorite option. I purchased a bridesmaids dress from Lulus last month and I fell in love! The dress was great, and the purchasing experience was even better. They have lots of filters, so you can get really specific with the color, length, style, etc, which can be very helpful, especially if you have a picky bride. The best part about lulus is that they do FREE returns and exchanges within 10 days.

It really took the pressure off of me to find the exact color and size I needed on the first try, which can be very tricky with online shopping. I only went through one other dress before I found the one I liked, probably because their sizing and only descriptions are so accurate. You really know what you are getting from just seeing it on the screen.

2. Rent the Runway

I first discovered Rent the Runway in high school when I was looking for prom dresses. But, in my recent bridesmaid dress searches, I remembered it and thought it would be a wonderful resource for this as well. You can choose to do a one-time rental, or get a membership where you can get multiple items a month for one flat rate and keep switching them out. The membership might be the way to go during wedding season if you are in/going to a lot of weddings.

They also show you the retail price so that you know what a great deal you are getting. It makes shopping a lot more fun, if you ask me. The other thing I really like about it is that when you choose the size you need, you can also choose a backup size that they will send you for free. So, if you are worried about the dress being too big or too small, you can pick an additional dress one size up or down just in case.

3. Amazon

I know, I know. We live in a world where we buy everything from Amazon. So, why not get your bridesmaid dress from there, too? The free shipping and returns with Amazon Prime makes it a low-stress way to shop. Plus, it’s pretty well known that Amazon has tons of reviews that can help you make your choice. I was surprised at how many cute dress options Amazon had.

4. Birdy Grey

Let me start by saying that the Birdy Grey website is a-dor-a-ble. I am a sucker for some great wedding pictures, and birdygrey.com is full of them. All of the bridesmaids dresses start at $99.00. There is a $10.00 restocking fee on all returns, but you can exchange or return for a gift card for free.

Side note: Birdy Grey was founded in 2017 by two best friends. We love some strong women starting a business.

5. Piper and Scoot

Piper and Scoot advertises women’s clothing that is comfortable and functional. They also sell styles that are for many different body types, because “...life isn't one size fits all...clothing shouldn't either”. Most of the styles are on the more modest side, but it’s a great option if you need that for any particular wedding. Shipping is always free on orders within the US, and you can also exchange for free within 14 days. They have lots of dresses around $50.00, making it a very affordable option.

6. David’s Bridal

I must say, David’s Bridal is doing something right, because their website is very user-friendly and they make it so easy to shop. You can choose what dresses you would like to see based on a price range, such as “under $100.00”. Another reason why I really liked shopping on the David’s Bridal website is that they show you each color, like a burgundy for example, instead of just showing the actual word burgundy. My visual gals will love this.

Most of the dresses also come in a ton of different colors. So, if you find a style of dress you love, there is a higher chance they will have it in the color you need. I would recommend David’s Bridal especially if you can pick your own dress as long as it is a certain color. Bonus-you can return or exchange in-store for free.

7. ASOS

For all my coupon-loving friends, you can currently get 15% off of your first order if you sign up for text, so we are already starting off with a great deal. The ASOS website has a “dresses for weddings” tab, putting everything you need in one place. Dresses start around $40.00, and they have a lot of options for long and short dresses.

ASOS also has a lot of cute shoe options as well, so you could essentially get the whole outfit in one place. We love it when things are easy.

8. Francesca’s

Finally, we will end with our girl Francesca. Francesca’s is a small company with a lot of unique options. They frequently have sales, and you can ship your item to the store for free and pick it up if you have one near you. There is a whole tab just for dresses and then you can filter it from there. One thing to note is that most of the longer dresses are more casual summer dresses, but they have a lot of really pretty short dresses that are still very formal.

And there you have it! I hope this is a great resource for all my future bridesmaids out there. Participating in a wedding is much more fun when you can save money on the dress. Let us know where you get your dresses from in the comment below.

Happy shopping!
